Bunny Mob
Jen Boyles and Ian Traas met as electronic music journalists and began DJing together shortly after they were married in 2013 -- it's a pretty cute story. They both have a long-held love affair of Chicago house music, having both come up in the midwest house scene, but each brings their own flavor to the [turn] table. Jen and Ian have DJed regularly at Dance Church (their favorite place to play) as well as First Avenue, and local rave/club events. The duo were tapped by EDC's Insomniac several years ago to create a mixtape of their unique house-meets-hip--hop sound, but these days DJ most for their 4 year old son at home. He affectionately calls it "crazy music" and his parents think that sounds about right. Mob squad mount up!
Butaca
This journey is not a straight line. It's a wave. Butaca (aka Paul Frett) is the founder and curator of Dance Church Minneapolis. Inspired by ecstatic dance and movement practices, he sees music as a journey of emotions; of stillness and chaos; of love and loss. A good set should tell a story, invoke a deep, heart felt response, and, of course, make you move your ass. Hopefully all of the music here does just that.
